IMPORTANCE OF SALVATION
"What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" (Mark 8:36). This verse summarizes the importance of salvation. God has placed us on the earth for a temporary, yet undefined length of time. One thing is certain, that time will come to an end. The Bible speaks of eternity. Every man and woman will live forever somewhere. This life is designed as a preparation for eternity.
There is a resurrection to life and a resurrection to damnation. The resurrection to life is spending eternity with God. The Bible is clear that there is only one way to spend eternity with God, that is by accepting Jesus Christ, God's Son as our Savior. John 3:3, Jesus Himself said, "Except a man be born again, he CANNOT see the kingdom of God". In John 3:5, Jesus states, "Except a man be born physically and spiritually, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." John 3:7 further drives the point home by saying, "You MUST be born again". John 14:6, Jesus said, "I am THE WAY, THE TRUTH and THE LIFE, NO MAN cometh unto the Father but by me."
Failing to receive Jesus as your Savior, you become part of the resurrection to damnation. This involves spending eternity apart from God. This is what the Bible refers to as Hell and the Lake of Fire. It is a place of torments, including: total darkness; weeping; wailing; gnashing of teeth; fire; no rest; lonliness; mental torment; and the worst part...no parole. It is forever.
You will live forever somewhere, choose to live with God by accepting His Son as your Savior. (See "Plan of Salvation")
