God's Plan Of Salvation

The first thing that needs to be established is that what we are about to share with you is not Factoryville Bible Church's Plan Of Salvation, or any denominational plan.  It is not a plan conceived by human sources.  It is God's Plan of Salvation as found in His Word the Bible.

According to the Bible, the first matter that must be considered is that every member of the human race is a sinner.  In the Bible, in the book of Romans, chapter 3 verse 10, we are told that "there is none righteous no not one".  Later in Romans chapter 3 verse 23 we learn that "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God".  There are no exceptions to this rule.  Because of Adam and Eve's sin, we are all born with a sin nature.  That means that we have a natural "bent" toward doing that which is displeasing in God's sight.  At this moment, I has five grandchildren under the age of four.  They are beautiful, intelligent and perfect.  However, they each have a sin nature.  Without instruction, they know how to be selfish, they know how to tell stories that are not true, they know how to hit and push and they have also figured out how to be jealous.  We need to teach them correct behavior, the sinful behavior is already apart of their human nature.

So what's the big deal.  No body is perfect, and we all sin.  Well, the big deal is that God is perfect and holy.  He hates sin and so Romans 6:23 tells us "that the wages of sin is death".  If I get what I deserve, I will receive death.  The word "death" means separation.  Physical death is the separation of the body and the spirit.  It does not mean that you cease to exist.  In this passage, the Bible is talking about spiritual death.  The concept that the result of my sin will separate me from God forever.  The Bible clearly talks about two places where people go after physical death.  They either go to heaven or hell.  Most people believe in heaven.  Many doubt there is a hell.  But once again God in His Word speaks twice as much about hell as He does heaven.  So if there is a heaven, you can be certain there is a hell.  An awesome thought to consider is that everyone is going to live forever somewhere.

So everyone is a sinner, and sin will keep me separated from God forever.  This is not good.  Where most people stumble however is on this next point, where the Bible tells us in Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace are ye saved through faith, it is a gift of God.  Not of works lest any man should boast".  We cannot save ourselves.  Many people believe that if you are truly sincere or if you try hard to be good and do right God will allow you to enter heaven.  But the Bible teaches that no one earns his salvation.  It is a gift.  Interestingly enough, we earn hell (wages of sin), but heaven is a gift.

Let's summarize:  All men/women are sinners.  The wages of sin is eternal separation from God forever.  We cannot save ourselves by our good works.  So far, this a bleak picture.  But this is where the "good news" (gospel) begins.  John 3:16 tells us that "God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."  The Bible calls us sinners, children of darkness, enemies of God and ungodly, yet God loved us so much that He sent Jesus to die in our place.  The wages of sin is death so Jesus died in our place.  Jesus, the perfect, God-man, came to earth and lived without sin.  He was crucified by unbelieving Israel and Rome.  While on the cross, God, the Father, punished Jesus for the sins of all mankind.  Because He was man, He could be man's substitute.  Because He was perfect, He could die for the sins of others.  Because He was God, He could endure the judgment for all of mankind.

The final piece of the plan is that you must trust Jesus, and Him alone for salvation.  In John 14:6, Jesus said, "I am THE way, THE truth, and THE life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me. "   Jesus is the only way to heaven.  The Philippian jailor asked the apostle Paul in Acts 16:31, what must I do to be saved?  Paul responded with, "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved."  The Devil has used religion to confuse people into thinking that there are many ways to heaven.  Whereas the Bible is very clear that putting your trust in Jesus is the ONLY way.

There is no magic formula or special prayer that brings salvation to a person.  God knows the heart.  The prayer that follows is just a guide to demonstrate your submissive heart to God's plan of salvation.

Dear Jesus:  I know that I am a sinner.  I know that a part from your mercy, I will end up in hell, forever separated from you.  I also know that I cannot save myself with good works or deeds.  I believe that Jesus died on the cross for me.  I believe that He paid the price for my sins while he was on that cross.  I am thankful for God's love and Jesus' sacrifice on my behalf.  Thank you for dying for my sins.  And the best way I know how, I am trusting you for my salvation.
